Piper needs another vet opinion
Piper's been losing fur on both sides of her hind legs, tail and even around her tummy area. It's been more than 6 months and having seen 2 different vets, they seem to agree it's a hormonal problem.
She's obsessed with grooming herself and lately there're red patches on those areas which could be self injury or insect bites.
I'm planning to bring her to another vet for a 3rd opinion. If anyone else has seen something like this, please share your experience or rather your kittie's experience.
Thanks.

I did some looking up via Google "excessive grooming in cats" which brought up a lot of different articles. The most common was allergy or infection. has the vet ruled those out. Maybe he needs an antihistame or anti-inflammitory to calm down the reaction, if that's what it is. Keep us posted on what the vet says :)
the vets we saw seem to have ruled out infections and allergies. they believe it's just hormonal but it seems worrying so this weekend i'll get another vet to look at her. *cross fingers* thanks for the support! =)
Stress sometimes can cause a cat to over-groom. Have you moved, introduced a new animal, or person, or maybe started spending more time out of the house (separation anxiety) during the time this has been going on? There's many suggestions on how to help calm kitties down if that's the case. Hope she gets better. :)
hi carrie, the vet thinks it's some kind of stress too but i couldn't figure out what changed. no food change, new pets/people, etc. used to be away for long periods but not anymore in the last few months. will see what the next vet says. thanks for dropping by, and i added you in my blogroll on my other blog =)
11/9: have you found anything out yet? Please give Piper cuddles & scritches from all of us & our mom. Poor kitty.
